B.O.B. 19.3″ WOD 11/26/19

The Ventura Battle of the Boxes is going into its 10th year this December. The first one started in 2010 when CrossFit was fairly new especially in terms of being competitive. Heck, it was my first competitive CrossFit event as I know it has been for many others. It was the event I circuled on my calendar to return to upon repturing my Achilles in 2014. It motivated me and I loved it enough to make it a priority to compete in. So when asked to become a part of it in 2016 I was honored. The event had given my gym community and I so much and I wanted to return the favor to others.

Unfortunately, the 10th event is in jeopardy of not happening due to lack of registrants. We’re about 18 teams short of where we need to be financially to run it. Although, I don’t want to see the event go. I’m completely content with saying good bye, and moving my energy elsewhere. As many of you probably see. Between being a full time Father and Husband. I have my gym, remote clients, seminars, Breaking Muscle projects, and high school strength & conditioning teams to occupy my time. I run and program events solely for my love of the CrossFit community. I find it to be a priviledge to see you all happy. I enjoy watching you all have a great time and have profited very little from the events financially. It’s really just been a labor of love.

So CrossFit community. If you want to see this 10th event happen please register your teams. I know many teams have formed but have yet to register. Please do so soon or we will unfortunately have to shut the event down. If we do… it’s not all bad. Maybe it’s just time. All great things must come to an end. I helped start the Shakedown & Wod Gear Team Series before coming on board with the Battle. Eventually those massive and extremely popular events had stop as well for one reason or the other. Maybe it’s now time for the Ventura Battle of the Boxes to say good bye too. Hopefully, this won’t be the case, but as I stated previously. I’m ok with it and if it’s over then I thank you all. Because it was a hell of fucking run!
